Who is responsible

What we collect about you

When you ask us for a lead we take your name, your work email address, your firm's name and the postcode you work from. We use them to work out which area to watch for you, to send you leads, and to contact you about the service.

If you go on to buy leads we also keep the records needed to invoice you and to meet our accounting obligations.

Our lawful basis is performing our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in running and supporting the service. We do not sell your details and we do not pass them to anyone for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

For as long as you are a customer, and for a period afterwards where we are required to keep records. If a trial ends without a subscription we keep your details unless you ask us to remove them. You can ask at any time and we will do it.

Reviews, and the people who write them

A lead begins with feedback a customer has published about a business. We read that feedback to decide whether it describes a problem our customer's trade can fix.

We do not pass on who wrote it. The name, profile and photograph attached to published feedback are not collected, not stored and never sent to a customer. What our customer receives is the business, the nature of the problem, and the words used — never the person. Our systems have nowhere to put a reviewer's identity, which is deliberate: it is a stronger guarantee than a policy, because it cannot be forgotten.

The businesses themselves are usually companies. But a small business is often a sole trader or a partnership, and then its details are personal data too. We treat them that way: we hold only what is needed to identify and contact the business, and we do not publish it beyond the customer the lead is sent to.

Our lawful basis for this is our legitimate interest in connecting a business that has a problem with a firm that can fix it, balanced against the limited and public nature of what we read.

If you run a business and would rather not appear in our leads, write to us and we will exclude you. You do not need to give a reason. If you wrote a review and want to be certain we hold nothing about you, write to us and we will confirm it.

Where the information sits

Our systems and our suppliers are in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. Where information moves between them, it is covered by the arrangements the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to us and we will answer within a month.

If you are in the United Kingdom and you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. In the Netherlands, to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this site, so we can make it clearer. It sets cookies in your browser and records the pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, and how you arrived here.

We do not use advertising trackers, we do not sell or share this information, and we do not use it to build a profile of you for marketing. Advertising personalisation is switched off.

Your private report pages are an exception on purpose. The link that opens your report contains a key that is unique to you, and that key is removed before anything is sent to Google. It is never recorded by our analytics.

You can block these cookies at any time in your browser settings, or with any of the common blocking extensions. The site works normally without them.
